Lately, I have been seeing a lot of "budong" posts on Facebook. So, I asked a friend what's this "budong" that a lot of people is buzzing about. She told me, it's a "malunggay pandesal". Malunggay pandesal? Interesting. Nowadays, many products are coming out in the market with malunggay flavor - from instant noodles to tea to supplements etc. And this, time it's in pandesal. We all know that malunggay has a lot of health benefits so every time we hear a product with malunggay in it, it surely is nutritious.
There was one lucky day that my eye caught Budong while we were in the van. I told my sister-in-law about this malunggay pandesal and out of curiosity, we immediately left the van and bought some.
We were handed by freshly-baked, hot hot hot pandesals! It was so delicious that my mother-in-law, being conscious that she is, couldn't stop eating 5 pieces in one sitting! Sam loved it too! So, I had to come back. This time, with my father.
On the second time, there was a long queue. This is how Budong Malunggay Pandesal is so "patok" in the town and nearby areas. Each pandesal costs P2.00. Not bad! For 5 pieces, you're gonna spend P10.00 only, enough to make a full tummy! What's also good about Budong is, they are open 24 hours a day!
Not your ordinary pandesal packaging sa kanto, right?
This malunggay pandesal is so soft in the inside but crunchy on the outside. You will not notice the traces of malunggay. It has a mild sweet taste so you can eat it without any palaman!
How much more if you add some cheddar cheese, cheese spread, peanut butter or kesong puti? Just pure deliciousness!!!
I've found out that Budong Malunggay Pandesal has many branches:
1. Consolacion
2. Canduman, Mandaue City
3. M.C Briones, Ibabao, Mandaue City
4. Gun-ob, Lapu-lapu City
5. etc...
